Worship Leading - Criteria

John Witvliet, director of the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, gives three criteria for a worship leader:
1. A Love of Learning
2. A Pastoral Heart
3. A Spirit of Joy

There are two observations that I think are important to make upfront about these. First, none of these are musical! Second, most of these are developed outside the Sunday worship space rather than inside. This already gives me a lot to consider.

 The next three posts will be reflections on why each of these are important to cultivate for a minister in any area and how they particularly apply to worship leading.
